The pool
About Lawford House Pool
Designed and built by Richard Hudson, whose wife Jenny was paralysed from a riding accident in 2015. Richard wanted to create an attractive and accessible facility that everyone can enjoy and benefit from. Hydrotherapy and swimming works for all ages and all abilities. The studio complements the pool offering a space for a variety of things like Physiotherapy, Pilates and Feldenkrais. The emphasis is on but not restricted to rehabilitation mixing conventional and non-conventional therapies in a fabulous environment.
Lawford House Pool has been designed to cater for people with varying degrees of mobility, offering an easily accessible facility with state of the art equipment sourced and tested by Jenny Hudson herself. Swimming is a vital form of exercise for all as well as being fun. We wanted to ensure that at Lawford House Pool you get the best out of your session whether able bodied or disabled.
The Poolpod
For easy and safe access into the pool we have installed a Poolpod. This involves transferring onto a dedicated waterproof wheelchair which you then wheel onto a platform the doors then close and the platform will then lower you into the pool - doors open and you swim away with your dignity intact. To leave the pool you simply get back onto the chair and the platform will take you up to floor level. You can stay in the chair if you want and take it into shower. Pool Facilities
The building is easily accessed from the car park. The pool is 12.19 metres (40ft) long and 5.49 metres (18 ft )wide with a depth of 1.2 metres (4ft) throughout. The water will be at a constant temperature of 31 degrees.
On the ground floor there is an accessible loo and two accessible changing rooms. Each changing room will have a shower, adjustable bed, hair dryer and a mirror.
Upstairs there are a further 4 changing rooms with showers and two separate loos.
The pool has connectivity so you can play your own playlists while you swim.
Private Hire
The pool can be hired exclusively by the half hour for up to 6 people at a time.
Your session includes:
30 mins to change and shower before hand
30 mins of exclusive time in the pool and
30 mins to shower and get dressed after your swim
We will need one lead person for the booking this person will need to sign the contract, terms and conditions and undertake a pool and facility induction prior to their sessions commencing on behalf of the group.
Regular slots can be booked in either 13 weeks blocks or you can book a one off every now and then just e mail us your preferences.
The cost for a 30 min slot is £25 for up to 4 people (£325 for a 13 weeks block booking) this is the cost per session not per individual. Over 4 is an extra £5 per person. All payments are payable in advance.
